Natural Protein Bars

Why would you buy protein bars, if you knew it had almost the same calories, fat and sugar as many of the popular candy bars? If your goal is to get healthier, slimmer, or replace a meal after a 30 to 60 minute workout, a candy bar or anything like it is probably on your "not" list. Right?

Here is a great recipe without all the junk in it but still delivers plenty of protein and amazing flavor.

Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups quick oats
1 1/2 cups powdered non-fat milk
4 scoops sugar free chocolate or vanilla protein powder
1
1/8 teaspoon Stevia Powder (Steviva Brand)
2 egg whites, beaten
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup unsweetened natural applesauce

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 325 and spray a baking sheet or 9x12 baking dish with non-stick spray. The 9x12 baking dish will yield thicker bars.
Mix oats, powdered milk, and protein powder in bowl and blend well.
In separate bowl, combine egg whites, water, applesauce, and the
1/8 teaspoon of Steviva and blend well.
Stir liquid mixture into dry ingredients until blended. The consistency will be thick and similar to cookie dough.
Spread batter onto pan and bake until edges are crisp and browned.
Cut into 10 bars and store in airtight container or freeze.

Fight the flu and allergies naturally

Now is the time to start taking care of our immune system and be prepared to fight allergies and the flu! We recently had to make the move to central valley where the air is horrible. Dust storms, valley fever, allergies, etc. Worst air quality! But have to make the best of it. Not only by praying for the air but also by adding to my daily supplements. My husband has bad allergies and I started giving him Quercetin.

This is a very inexpensive natural supplement that helps stabilize
mast cells and prevents them from releasing histamine. I researched this and asked a local nutritionist what she recommended.

Along with this we will be taking our usual Vit C, D, Garlic and Omegas.

Omegas will also help extremely with allergies because it fights inflammation. Omegas can be found in flax seed meal (my fav), walnuts, olive oil and cold water fish (salmon has highest amounts).

There are many other supplements, teas, etc. that you can take but wanted to share about these because they are easy to find and very inexpensive.

During this time we daily drink our yerba mate teas (check out products on the left side of this page), adding ginger, honey lemon.

Best start of the day..Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving! Starting your day with Thanksgiving reminds us of what we have and gives us a mind of gratitude prior to being filled with all of our daily concerns and responsibilities. Not just one day a year. I like reminding myself of the meaning of a new day and new beginning each day. Try it.
